Angela Stoner 12- 15 July Writing for Connection
Writing for Connection

This is a course for anyone who would like to gain insight into how the process of creative writing can help with self development. The writing exercises provide a way to reconnect with inner dreams, adventure, healing and strength. The experience will be enhanced by taking place in the magical landscape of West Cornwall. You do not need to be a writer in order to benefit from the workshops and the emphasis is not on publication. On the other hand, experienced writers of both poetry and prose have found that the course brought a deeper dimension and a greater vitality to their writing.

“My expectations have been surpassed”
“There was a huge freeing up of the mind, expansion to my writing, and I found I have a more positive approach to life, generally.”

Angela Stoner is a writer, poet and storyteller. Her work ahs appeared in many literary journals such as Mslexia, South and Acumen. She regularly performs her work at festivals, and her plays have been performed in Hertfordshire and London. Her book, Once in a Blue Moon has been described as “truly magical”. This work is set in Cornwall but also in the realm of myth and dream. Angela works as a writing tutor, both freelance and for the local authority, and she has provided encouragement and inspiration to writers at all levels. She is interested in how the writing process enables personal growth and self-healing, and also in how this process of deepening self-awareness feeds back into writing. She has contributed to academic journals and books on this subject.

Frances Wilson 17 – 21 September Spellbinding
Through poetry and prose this course will explore language as magic; how not only the meaning of words, but their sounds, their order, the constructions and rhythm of a sentence can have different effects.

Frances Wilson is one of this country's leading poets, whose latest collection Rearranging the Sky has been received to much acclaim. She is also an experienced and talented tutor of international repute. It is not an insult to describe Frances Wilson as a poet of the ordinary. She takes domestic
situations and constructs small dramas that grow with the telling. Wilson’s strength is a visual accuracy. Frances lives in Hertfordshire, where she writes, paints and runs workshops. She has won prizes in many competitions, including The National and The Bridport. Michael Laskey has said: "Rearranging the Sky, Frances Wilson's patiently accumulated second collection is a joy -- a satisfying patchwork of necessary celebratory poems that honour our ordinary human experience, in language that is vivid, precise and natural. Even at her most painfully elegaic, there is irrepressible lightness in her rhythms, a vitality that is ultimately consoling."
